Nalgene wide mouth round containers, awesome little travel hack

I took a quick trip to Whole Earth Provisions this morning to grab a couple waterproof containers for the travel essentials — Advil, allergy medicine, and other small items. Somewhere during my hiking and business travels last year, I lost the watertight metal pill fobs I used to carry with me. As I was browsing some water bottle deals (it’s summer clearance time afterall), I stumbled on something I’d never seen before — Nalgene wide mouth round containers in assorted sizes.

If you look at the cost of a pill fob, they typically run $5-$10. If you’re looking for a shampoo bottle or other small travel-friendly canister, you’ll either find an expensive item that will inevitably get lost, or a cheap item that will inevitably break. Companies have been exploiting the ‘travel container’ moniker for years. If an item has the words, ‘travel size’ on it, it’s almost a guarantee that the price is 2-3x what the item is worth. That’s why these surprised me so pleasantly.

I used to have a Nalgene water bottle before I switched to my metal Hydro Flask. You know what I never broke during the few years I owned it? My Nalgene water bottle. And lemme tell you, I punished that bottle with bumps, scrapes, and drops. It stands to reason that the Nalgene wide mouth round containers are just as tough. With sizes starting at 1 oz (30ml), these little bottles are small enough to throw in a bag and not take up a ton of space, and they’re light enough that they don’t add much weight to a travel or backpacking rig.

Meanwhile, I can’t believe I just wrote a post all about little Nalgene wide mouth round containers. It was such a good, cheap, useful find today, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell you about it.
